DEBUT SINGLE ANNOUNCED FOR OSCAR, STAR OF SMYTHS TOYS SUPERSTORES ADVERTS

‘DANCE WITH ME TONIGHT’ SINGLE AND VIDEO RELEASED: FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2020

The one and only Oscar, famed as the energetic, singing star of Smyths Toys Superstores Christmas advert, will release his debut single and video Dance With Me Tonight after signing to Sony Music’s Magic Star label earlier this year. Released on 4 September 2020 Dance With Me Tonight is the first release from Oscar’s forthcoming album.

Based on Olly Murs’ hit single Dance With Me Tonight is a brand new version, bringing Oscar’s full character to life with new lyrics exploring his love of skateboarding, playing guitar, performing and being with his friends. The specially created animated video sees Oscar start on a big adventure from his house to the skate park, meeting new friends Alex, Anika, Charlie and Isabella along the way. In true Oscar style, they kickflip, dance and play to their hearts’ content, surrounded by fireworks and fun and soundtracked by Oscar singing the fantastic Dance With Me Tonight. And not only is he singing, but he plays the guitar too!

Dance With Me Tonight is the first in a series of singles and colourful new videos from Oscar, who has recently bagged himself a massive recording contract with Sony Music’s children’s and family entertainment label, Magic Star, as part of a collaboration with Smyths Toys, the largest toy retailer in Europe.

Oscar was created by Smyths Toys in 2016 as a character that lives in their stores and helps showcase the variety of toys living with him. Oscar starred in the widely praised Smyths Toys Superstores advert that adapted Beyoncé’s ‘If I Were A Boy’ to ‘If I Were A Toy’ and has featured alongside a whole cast of iconic performers, from Barbie to Buzz and Woody from Toy Story.
