Our Verdict

If like me you have children who love rocks and spend time playing and breaking them to see the differences or see if they sparkle inside then this may capture your child’s imagination. It is also something that children who like crafting or jewellery may also enjoy. There are also a lot of websites relating to this hobby with plenty of information or products to continue using this device well past what it comes with.

The kit comes with the machine, polishing grits and powders and the stones themselves. After reading the instructions I realised there was actually a lot of steps and time involved in the polishing of the stones, up to 8-9 days. So how does it work, in its basic form you repeat steps of adding the stones, adding water and adding a grit or polish powder, running the machine for a few days and then cleaning and progressing to the next stage. Once the final stage is complete the kit also comes with a set of jewellery fittings to create some stone jewellery however the fittings are not the most elegant but the children loved them to be fair. Also what was nice was the fact they enjoyed giving them as gifts to family and friends and felt they had put a lot of effort and work into producing the finished item.

The machine does need somewhere to sit that won't keep you up all night while it runs for days and the time from start to finish does seem to take ages. But the end result and sense of achievement makes up for this.
